Virginia Beach Documentary Family Photos “A Cozy Winter Sunset”
Reflecting on this Virginia Beach family photo session with Kelly, Andrew, and Ivy, I am reminded of the power of genuine connections and spontaneous moments. This sweet family volunteered to model for me, the morning of this session, to help me test a new lens!
There was minimal planning, no outfit guidance (I told them, “come as you are”), no Pinterest boards, no props…nothing! And this session was pure magic. The fact that Kelly and I had just spoken for the first time on the day of the shoot speaks volumes to the beauty of letting go of the need to control every detail and simply being present in the moment.
There is something special about documenting families on a regular day. It is in those ordinary, everyday moments where true memories are made and cherished. As a Norfolk family photographer, my goal has always been to reflect this authenticity and raw emotion in my work, showing families that yes, there is so much beauty in your story and in the mundane!
The session with Kelly and her family served as a reminder that sometimes less is indeed more. I believe that true beauty lies in the imperfections and vulnerabilities that make us human.
Since picking up a camera, I am constantly learning the importance of staying true to myself and my own artistic vision. It is through moments like these, where I am able to connect with families on a deeper level, that I am reminded of why I fell in love with photography in the first place :) How could I not, working with sweet little ones like this!
So, thank you Kelly, Andrew, and Ivy, for allowing me to document you in your most authentic form. Your session will forever hold a special place in my heart, and remind me that simplicity is everything we need, and sometimes less is truly so much more!
