The first time I met Halie and Cole was at their studio engagement session, which they drove all the way from Sonora to San Diego for! I immediately loved them both and their families. We talked about how they met when they were 16, how they love a tattoo and Chipotle date, and they love photos that show a little passion and intimacy. Cole’s mom at the last minute decided to sit in for the engagement session, which normally would be so rough but the way this went down was hilarious and adorable and reminded me of my own mom. Halie and Cole are so sweet, giggly, and so purely in love, but they’re also cool af and down for some vibey, unique photos. In my final wedding questionnaire, I always ask my couples if they could have only 5 photos from their wedding day, what would they be. One of the Stanton’s was “bad ass portrait.” Challenge accepted haha.
On their wedding day, the plan was for the girls to have the Airbnb first and then the guys would come in after. We took some boudoir style photos of Halie to be a surprise for Cole on gallery delivery day (this is something I LOVE to do and highly recommend to brides). If you know you know, a group of girls getting ready is guaranteed to create an absolute tornado. We were in a bit of a pinch to get the guys photos done, but Cole made sure to have his guys help him clean the place up and leave a bottle of champagne chilling on the table surrounded by rose petals for when the two came back. Most of the time when I ask grooms how they’re feeling on a wedding day, it is some combination of nerves and excitement. Cole, without any nerves said, I’ve been waiting for this day for so long.
Halie & Cole shared a first look, private vows and a feet washing ceremony. I had never seen one of these before, and it was so perfect and wholesome. Their ceremony was nestled in the forest alongside their reception venue, and Airbnb in Sonora CA. We drank blackberry lemonade, ate tacos, and danced the rest of the night away. The Stanton’s day was so relaxed after their ceremony, so we had plenty of time to walk around the property and take beautiful photos of them in the woods right at golden hour, which was such a dream for me. We had time to chat, laugh, and get creative, which not every wedding day timeline allows. Spend 5 minutes around these two and it is so obvious how good they are together. Cheers to you guys Halie & Cole!!
“It felt like our best friend hanging around us all day, instead of a stranger. You put our nerves of being in front of the camera quickly at ease! Your energy was contagious!” – Halie & Cole Stanton
